Great upcoming event for Chicagoans (and visitors) in 2014. Last March, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced a new festival that will include a procession of illuminated floating fiberglass sculptures and a fire spectacle on the main branch of the Chicago River. The City of Chicago in partnership with Redmoon will create this magnificent festival. The inaugural Great Chicago Festival will take place in October, 2014.

Presented by Redmoon in partnership with the City of Chicago, the inaugural Great Chicago Fire Festival introduces what will become an annual tradition celebrating the diversity of Chicago’s great neighborhoods and the City’s powerful spirit of renewal. The Festival will culminate on October 4th, 2014 with a grand procession and fire spectacle on the main branch of the Chicago River. Tens of thousands will watch the procession and spectacle from Chicago’s newly developed riverfront, featuring acrobatics, live music, wild mechanical objects, and more. The festival will be a city-wide signature event that so genuinely reflects the city that it becomes a cultural and economic beacon for Chicagoans, the nation, and the world.
